It was one summer day I came out of my school bus with my bag hanging at one side of my back and on the other my cricket kit. My mother was waiting for me at my stand, I went to her and she told me “there’s a vacancy at don bosco.” I got very happy as I always dreamt of it that I was studying in that institution. But before I could expand my happiness my mother continued “but there’s no vacancy in your class its one below you are in.” And my bat slipped of. It looked that it shared with me my emotion.
“I cannot repeat a class, it’s below my dignity” I told my mother as we were going home. “But its don bosco your life will get settled believe me I know what’s good for you.” I thought she doesn’t know what’s good for me. I had studied for 7 years in that school. I was favorite of my friends and of teachers but then it was my mother her decision was final. I reached home and sat with my books after a nap of 30 minutes. She came to my room an said “close these books and start preparing for your entrance test.” I felt my body burning with fire but I was helpless. I always wanted to be in don bosco but not at cost of 1 year. Next day was my exam at dbs. I went inside the school and looked up it was a magnificent one. Flushing garden and 3 buildings interconnected with each other. Two basketball courts and a ground which spread were over an area of about 1000 square feet. I felt great and when I climbed up the srairs I saw about 50 classrooms and long corridors. It was all that I wanted. I went to give the test which included three papers – math’s, English, g.k. My exam went nice as I had expected because I was one year low. The results came after 4 days. I was selected in the 180 boys. There were more 10 boys. The next day was the interview and I was too excited. We reached there and then my interview started. I was very confident while speaking and answered all questions. It was not bookish questions. It was all logical. I got admission in don bosco my dream schools but at cost of 1 year. But that one year did not much mind to me because now my base is very strong. I can speak fluent English and I have also made my own personality. I could do this all because my parents. They pushed me into this school and now when I think of the day my mother told me about the vacancy I cannot remember why I told that I will not go into this school. I know the fact very well now that “PARENTS KNOW BEST”
This is a group that we made to enhance speaking of english in school so that everyone can speak properly. we submit 1 article every month wether be story or poem..... So we are doing our bit

Yet, Christ let his powers rest
The night was cold and wet;
Furious the heavenly skies
On the cross was the Redemeer’s rise
Who had not revealed his powers yet.
The barmy man seemed himself
More glorious than his Father!
And even wiser than his Mother;
Yet, Christ denied uncovering his true self.
He hung there like a worn-out rag
And a ‘crown of prejudice’ on his head
Mother moaning as she had bred.
Did Christ then raise his powers’ sag?
His hand bled- the red blood
Covered the iron in his arms;
Two men- kindly he charms.
And yet he let not his powers flood.
Not a piece of attire on his chest,
Whole day he waited for Death;
Or rather, death waited for his breath;
But Christ let his powers rest.
Furious the heavenly skies
On the cross was the Redemeer’s rise
Who had not revealed his powers yet.
The barmy man seemed himself
More glorious than his Father!
And even wiser than his Mother;
Yet, Christ denied uncovering his true self.
He hung there like a worn-out rag
And a ‘crown of prejudice’ on his head
Mother moaning as she had bred.
Did Christ then raise his powers’ sag?

Scene: 1
[Curtain opens. The scene is of the eastern side of the Novosibirsk reservoir. It is the Karakan pine forest of Russia. A robber, Goldennail is sitting on a rock; he is the head of all the robbers. Cycostus sits beside him and Klitystar is sitting on another rock with Metalhand. The public prosecutor [p.p.] is standing and addressing them.]
P.P.:
Why does a whale come out from the waters totally and why does you do the same from the safest place for you, the woods of the west?
Goldennail:
A whale comes out from the waters to free its body and breathe fresh air. Thus, I do come out from the ‘breathtaking’ jail of mine fearlessly of the captors waiting outside.
P.P.:
But that is dangerous and forbidden; for the jackal is hunting the rabbit and the rabbit must stay in its hole. The Apparatchik can be dangerous to you.
Cycostus:
The rabbit has a sharp sense of smell and hearing and does run that fast so we are there to sacrifice.
Klitystar:
Yes, these sense organs are the friends of the rabbit; those winds are friends of the arrow and the bird; those waters are friends of the schooners and those rains are the friends of the peasant so are we; the friends and protectors of Goldennail.
Goldennail:
That is why; the robber has nothing to be afraid of, because it has friends, the greatest treasures of life, like the diamond is the treasure of the ring.
P.P.:
Friends, yes, of course! But are they greater than glory?
Cycostus:
Glory? Do you mean to abuse Goldennail? Can ever silver be more precious than gold?
Goldennail:
No, Cycostus. Don’t pour acid into an acid. It will burst. But yes, prosecutor, friends are like sun and glory is like a firefly.
Metalhand:
Prosecutor, there’s in an empty balloon below my neck.
P.P.:
Oh, yes! Wash yourselves; dinner is after an hour- At the old oak tree. I hope you have not washed out your memories.
Klitystar:
No, of course, once the dog gets the smell, he never forgets it.
Exit: Everybody
Scene: 2
[The people are sitting around a fire with hot food. They are gossipping and eating.]
Metalhand:
Friends and foes are two aspects of success. A dog has a bone and liberty as its friend and the cruelty of man is his enemy. If its not cruelty of man, then there are the diseases to oppose him. Thus, if these two aspects are not present, success is impossible. But where does glory lay? It lies in the history and ended up with Napoleon Bonaparte and Adolf Hitler. So, my friend prosecutor, there is nothing such as glory overpowering friends.
P.P.:
I have read much about Gilderwart and Tootenham. Who are they actually?
Goldennail:
Gilderwart and Tootenham? Two seeds of the same fruit fighting to grow up into a plant and ended up blown away by a wind and swallowed by a bird.
Klitystar:
They are the greatest story of glory and friendship. Gilderwart was the son of the king of France and Tootenham was his closest friend. They used to live together almost all the time. His father, the king of France was involved in a war against the British. He was small and did not go to the battlefield with his father. Then, when his father was not at home, Tootenham came to him and urged him to follow. He hesitated at first, but then he faithfully followed. He led him to his mother’s chamber and when he stopped Gilderwart asked him what the matter was! Meanwhile, Gilderwart’s father was stuck in a battle in which he was sure to lose because the enemy had overpowered them.
Cycostus:
Yes, and he was fighting with at least ten horsemen at once. He was one of the greatest rulers of France.
Metalhand:
He was called the ‘Savior of the saviors’ because he used to save as many people as he could instead of killing that many.
Goldennail:
And Gilderwart had inherited his father’s qualities. Thus, he was also a very good ruler.
Klitystar:
Yes, Gilderwart was fighting ferociously and it is said- one of his enemies was chopped into twenty one pieces!
Tootenham led Gilderwart to the other chamber beside his mother’s. There, he showed Gilderwart what he had done, choppen off one man into exactly twenty one pieces saying that he was a traitor and had killed his mother. Giderwart was so shocked that he went mad for an hour. It seemed that he would never come back but he gained conciousness- most unexpectedly- in an hour and directly kicked Tootenham on his chest. He fell backwards and ran away and never came back. Gilderwart’s father won that battle with great struggle and retuened at once to attend the funeral. After that, Gilderwart’s father taught him the art of fighting and he was impressed at his son’s skill. But in the mean time, thinking of Tootenham made Gilderwart feel guilty and slowly the fire grew. Then that generation passed and Gilderwart became the king of France. He was very powerful and soon became the emporer of Italy. Slowly, as his power began to rise, he forgot his revenge against Tootenham and turned to the glory which his father had failed to achieve. He began his quest in spring. One night, when he was trying to sleep in his tent, Tootenham entered and left a note. He didn’t notice it and read the letter the next day-
‘I’m very sorry!’
He tore the note to pieces as his old flare lit up once again and he sent for the chief commander in whom he had trust the most and ordered him to kill Tootnham wherever he found him. That night, Gilderwart was killed by an arrow. He did not know who had killed him.
Exit: Everybody
Scene: 3
[Supper is complete. They have put up their tents and are sitting around the fire.]
P.P.:
The story was very interesting. What happens next?
Enter: Kepler, Apparatchik
Kepler:
Next, Apparatchik finds the noble robber and the legend comes to an end.
Cycostus:
We are the dogs who guard the treasure, so the intruder has to go past us in order to get his hands upon the treasure.
Kepler:
The Apparatchik doesn’t need to deal with dogs because he has more powerful weapons, wolves!
Apparatchik:
Yes, but they are tame wolves. So, don’t worry! They will attack only one of you, so, who wants to die?
Cycostus:
The treasure’s best friend is its actual and main guardian who is I, Cycostus and I strictly order you to destruct me before you loot the treasure.
Klitystar:
What is the use of an iron nail in front of a whole bunch of food to a hungry man? Kill me if you want but do no harm to Goldennail because it will also harm the hungry man.
P.P.:
The work of the savior is to save paying whatever the price is. I am the savior of these men so till I live, no harm comes to them. If you have real control over the hounds, kill me first.
Metalhand:
I am the closest friend of Goldennail, and sacrificing for a friend is my prime duty. I shall welcome death with a hug. Death! Come to me!
Apparatchik:
Death fears those who seek it and seeks those who fear it. All of you have shown your fearlessness. But Goldennail, my prime aim, is yet to overpower Death. I shall order the hounds to the kill him if he doesn’t accept it now!
Cycostus:
No, I shall not let harm to him!
Klitystar:
What harm comes to him? I shall see that nobody even touches him.
P.P.:
Kill me! But no harm to him! I am the savior!
Metalhand:
I will stand before him and I will see how Death touches him.
Apparatchik:
Attack Goldennail!
[The wolves kill Goldennail and the enemies fly away.]
Scene: 4
[The funeral is over. Two and a half months have passed. The men are sitting cuddled together.]
P.P.:
What happens next in the story?
Klitystar:
After the death of Gilderwart, many myths leaked out. But what most believe is that Tootenham was the trusted chief commander that Gilderwart had and he killed him to become the King of France. Actually, Gilderwart’s mother was killed by the traitor and Tootenham had killed the traitor. But when he realized that Gilderwart would never accept him as a friend, he did what anyone would have done. He knew that there was a forthcoming search for Tootenham among the army so he fulfilled a friend’s duty, he killed Gilderwart. Tootenham also realized what Gilderwart was upto, achieving glory. But Goldennail did the same feat; he showed wisdom by not even uttering a word and showed true friendship by sacrificing the treasure!

The golden spell
India’s history is beset with glory
It’s present? Only vice-
Future is yet unholy.
All this would forlornly suffice
To fill the nation’s pages, incessant
With twisted rise and fall
Legends, of kings and ministers pleasant-
Hovering at their hall.
Now, it is the people’s spell
To amend what doesn’t flatter,
The only requisite is to tell
The folks to rebel all that what quarter-
The shockingly “ceased” incessant,
The Golden Sparrow- India.

Speech- Judgement required
Today Samuel learnt a new word, vicissitude. “This word means change of circumstances and it is usually used with life telling about the ups and downs of life,” said his teacher. The word struck him most unlike any other of the thousand words his teacher used to tell him. “Ma’am, please give me an example,” Samuel asked inquisitively. After a thought, his teacher said “She maintained her attitude in spite of the vicissitudes in her life.” Samuel was impressed. He didn’t know that he would be tweeting the same word delightedly the next day.
*
The sun was down by the time they reached home. Samuel and Marx were close friends. They had decided to spend some time at his home and so Samuel called Harry and Adam also to his home. They agreed. “Marx, c’mon, you play much better than this,” Samuel said. They were playing table tennis at his home. “Yes, I know it. I don’t know what is happening to me now!” he replied. “Harry and Adam will be coming soon. We will watch Identity. It is a horror movie,” Samuel said to him. “Okay,” he replied. Samuel’s cellphone began ringing. Oh no! Karl is calling me! “Hello, Karl?” “Yes, Sam!” he replied relieved to find that Samuel had answered the call. “Yes, the score is one by zero, okay?” Samuel said to Marx in the middle of the call. “Sam, I wanted to ask if-,” “Hold on. Marx, this was a wrong serve. You didn’t throw the ball into the air. Yes, what were you telling?” Samuel said trying to evade the call. “Listen to me, Sam. Did you do it for me?” Karl asked. “Uh, yes, yes I have done it. Marx, I think it was my turn to serve. I’m so sorry, Karl. Actually, I am playing t.t. so-,” Samuel said but Karl interrupted me, “Play, play it well. I will call you later,” he said and Samuel hung up. “Why were you talking so strangely?” Marx asked me. “It was Karl. One day, he had come to my home with a disc. He told me that it contained his computer project was inside it but he was not being able to open it. I tried to open it for him but it still did not. After much persuasion from his side, I agreed to make a project for him. He also asked me to print the first pages of some of his projects. I agreed to that also. After that, he went out of station and now he has returned. The problem is that I forgot to print his pages but I have made his project. That is why I was talking to him that way because actually I didn’t want to talk with him at all. I will better do his work and then talk to him,” Samuel said and Marx shook his head. I had made a mistake. I should have done it for him.
“Hello, Sam,” said Adam. “Welcome, Adam. Come, Harry, come in. We will be watching Identity which is a horror movie. But before that, I would like to show you the project I have made for Karl. This is one of my best projects,” Samuel said. “It is so nice,” said Marx after seeing the project. “Oh… is it? Thanks,” Samuel replied. After that, they saw the horror movie which was very catchy. Samuel bid them a good night as they walked away and he went back hurriedly for the Fifa match had begun.
Samuel forgot to do the pages for Karl and was busy watching the thrilling match between Argentina and Nigeria. Argentina won it. The phone rang. He picked up the receiver. “Yes?” “Sam! This is Harry! Quickly connect to orkut. I want to speak to you urgently. This is very urgent,” he said. “Okay,” Samuel said yawning. He was in no mood for jokes and he was quite sure that Harry was playing a joke. He logged into orkut and started a chat with Harry. What have you got to tell me? He asked him. His reply came- If there is a friend of yours who is very nice in front of you. But he speaks ill of you to another friend of yours who, considering the circumstances, just nods in approval, but afterwards breaks all of it to you. Which friend would be the better one for you? Samuel was in no mood for all this bullshit and so he replied- don’t ask such obvious questions. The first friend is bad.You are asking questions like- Who is better, the Divine or the Satan? Moreover, there is no fourth person in this story which is a very short one and one which I don’t like so please don’t you eat my head. I am not in a serious mood. Cool down, man. You have heard what you wanted to hear from me. Now, are you happy?
I just didn’t want to hear it from you. This is serious. He replied. Haha! What is serious in this? C’mon now, tell me. Who is the first and who is the second friend? I know you are the third. Samuel wished he hadn’t asked him for the reply was terrible. It blew off his sleep.
Karl is the first, I am the second and you are the third guy. As Samuel began reading this reply he came under the impression that he was the second and Harry was the third. I am involved! Okay, now I am taking in the seriousness of the matter. I am DAMN serious. Tell me more. Samuel wrote. Yes Harry replied. Samuel recollected the day when Karl had come to his house. He realised that Karl had spoken ill of Harry and he had agreed to him believing in him. Karl had said to him “I don’t like Harry. Firstly, he asks if he can help us with our projects and then when we go to him, he begins troubling us even more.” “But he tried to help you. Maybe, this disc is damaged,” Samuel replied. “Then he should not boast about his printer. He thinks that he is the only one in the world who can help us out. Let me call him,” he said scornfully. After making the call he said to me, “Damn it! Harry has deleted my project from his computer. What kind of a guy is he? He could at least have stored my project as a backup.”
And I had not told about this conversation to Harry but he says that the second one tells the third person about it later. This means that I am not the second person. Someone else is! Samuel reread the question and realised that he was the third one. Holy Shit! That implied that Karl had spoken against him to Harry and Harry had agreed to it for once but later he told him about it. But till now he has not told me about it. All the haze got denser when Samuel read Harry’s next message-
I am yet to tell you the secret. Call me now.
I called him as quickly as was possible. He said, “Karl was saying very ugly things about you. It seemed as if you two were enemies. He was mocking you as if you didn’t have any dignity.” he could not take it in. Karl was one of his best pals! “Is it true?” Samuel doubted it. “It is really true and that is why I have a plan,” he said. “Tell me about it,” Samuel said hopeful. “No, not now. Later. I need to have my supper now. Call me after fifteen minutes,” he said and hung up in a hurry.
For the next fifteen minutes, Samuel pondered over what Harry had just told him. Karl spoke ill of me! This could not be true. But Harry never lies. This is too serious to be a joke. It is reality.I wondered what Karl could have said about me that troubled Harry so much. Then Samuel called Harry.
“Harry, what did Karl say to you about me?” Samuel asked when he picked up. “All that should wait, first, listen to the plan. Tomorrow, you call Karl at your home by twelve noon. I will be coming by eleven. We will delete his project from your computer but we will keep a backup in the internet. You tell him that Harry deleted the project and the rest is for me to handle. Make him do the project by himself and then only will he realise how tedious it is to make a project. After he makes the project, I will tell him that it is absurd of people who speak ill of a person at a time and then goes to the same person for help the next second. Then we will make a note of his reaction and act accordingly. You don’t have much to do in it. But just say that I have deleted the project. Now I need to hang up. I am typing an important document. Bye,” he said. “Bye,” Samuel said but he had already hung up.
That night Sam pondered over the plan which Harry had told him. He noticed a flaw in the plan. Saying that Harry had deleted the project would make unnecessary fuss. Instead of that, he could give an excuse. For example, he could tell that the project was not nicely made and so he had deleted the project. He had thousands of excuses but accusing Harry of it would cause superfluous commotion. Sam expunged all these thoughts from his mind because he wanted to have a good sleep.
Early in the morning, Samuel got up because he had planned to play cricket in the field. On the way, Karl- who also played with them- came up to him and said “Why did you do my project when your four projects were left? You should have completed you projects first.” “It is okay,” I replied surprised. “Okay, then, thanks. I will come at twelve to take my project,” he added. “Okay,” I replied. “But… the project is not so good. I think I should delete it,” I said when I remembered the plan. “No, don’t do that. I will take the worst project of the world. But I urgently need a project. Any project will do!” he retorted.
*
“And this is why I cannot delete his project,” Sam said to Harry after he explained to him what had happened in the morning. “It is okay. We will not carry out the plan. Marx has advised me against it,” he said. Sam didn’t like the way all of it was ending. He wanted something crispier. At twelve sharp, Karl, Harry and Adam came to his home. Sam showed Karl the project who liked it immensely. He went away to get a blank disc. This is my opportunity. Marx was right but Karl has to be taught a lesson. He can’t be left so easily Harry mused. He cut the file from its original place on the desktop and stored it deep inside the Age of empires folder. It was very tough to reach the file by manual searching. Though there were thousands of other ways to open it, Harry was sure that Karl would accept his challenge. The file could simply be opened from Word. It was contained in the recent documents. There was also the search tool. But Harry didn’t mind. He just needed an excuse to say his dialogue.
“Karl is back,” I whispered to him. Karl strode into the room and inserted the disc. “If you can, find your project without any help from the computer. Use manual searching. This is a challenge,” Harry said. Karl looked bewildered. The computer contained so much of data that it would take hours to find the file without help. Karl began his search with the local disc. Suddenly, his cellphone beeped. Harry said quickly, “You have only ten minutes. If you don’t find it, I will not let you take that project and you will have to create your own.” Sam gave a sharp look at Harry but he was persistent. Karl received the call outside the room.
He returned in a few minutes. “Only five minutes to go,” Harry said. Karl sat down and began opening all folders to the extremity. He was very close for the games folder was there in the same disc. He opened the folder named ‘Age of Empires’ and began searching all the folders. Harry looked at Samuel and prayed to heaven. But it happened. Karl opened the folder. But because he was flipping through the folders very quickly, he missed it and went on to the other folder. Harry sighed. Unfortunately, Karl caught the signal and reopened the same folder and opened his project. Karl smiled.
Abruptly, Harry realised something and said aloud, “Hey, this is cheating! Adam, you messaged him the location.” Karl replied curtly, “This is not cheating. It is called using your senses,” he was very happy. Karl put the project into the disc which was not re-writable. After that, Harry and Samuel went out to play table tennis while Karl edited his project. When Harry and sam returned, Karl said “Oh no! I have already stored my project in the disc. Still I am editing it! This is foolishness.” Harry strode forward, snatched the mouse and cut the edited project from the computer and over-wrote it on the disc. “Hey, what did you do?” asked Karl. “Don’t worry, it will work,” he replied. Sam didn’t like it. This was insane. Harry said to him, “I am going now, Sam. I have work pending.” “Wait, you have started this foolishness. You won’t go away without amending the faults,” Sam replied. Harry stayed a little longer.
Then, something occurred which knocked all of them for a six. The over-written disc started working. Harry began pretending that he had been hoping this to happen. Next, they tried to open that project which had not opened the day Karl had come to me with it. “Don’t try to open it. It is futile. That disc is damaged,” Samuel protested. But no one paid heed to his words. Most astonishingly, that disc worked too! Now, Harry was all puffed up. He gleamed at Karl. Karl was utterly perplexed. How did it work! Sam was puzzled too!
*
The same evening saw Harry dashing through the lane. He had to make another one of his projects with Sam but that was of no importance then. The important thing was that Marx was in Sam’s home. Another thing which had made him run was the call made by Sam. He had said, “Harry, come fast to my home. Marx is coming. I have terrible news.”
Harry waited for the door to be opened. It usually took five to ten minutes of patience but that day the door was opened quickly. Harry dashed up the stairs to Sam’s room. Sam motioned him to sit. Harry sat down. He was exhausted. When he regained his breath, Sam said to him, “Either you have made a terrible mistake or I have made an inexpiable blunder.” Harry ogled at him, waiting for more. Marx was sitting beside Samuel. “What has happened?” he asked. “Before I answer, I need to ask you what happened on the day Karl had come to your home. I need the exact words… no changing please,” said Sam. Harry was taken aback. He had not been expecting this. Harry did not want to tell this in front of Sam but he had no other choice left then. “Karl was telling me that Sam is a burden for him. He mockered you. He said you didn’t know how to dress. He was saying that he hated your personality and would stop friendship with you. He told me that he had already reduced the friendship to a great extent and now he would bring it to a halt forver. This is what he had said and then he began talking about other silly matters all of which concerned you. But before the matter would become worse, I pressed upon him to make the project. I can’t say any more,” Harry said.
Sam listened intenly and then gave a look of horror. “I have made a dreadful gaffe,” his lips shaped. “What have you done?” Harry observed Sam. “I told everything to Karl- from our plan to that day’s happenings. If whatever you are saying is true then I am in danger. Karl is insisting that he had not said anything annoying of me. Now, all is lost. I will not be able to tell him anything,” Sam said. “I have a solution,” said Marx.
*
Karl’s cellphone was ringing. “Yes?” It was Sam’s voice. Karl hung up. He hung up two more calls but attended the third.
“What is it?” he asked. “I have talked to Harry and everything’s fine. All is solved. Harry says sorry. He was wrong in what he did. He thought that whatever you had said would be annoying to me. But I happily accept all that. Is it okay?” Sam spoke.
Karl listened and then barely said, “Okay.” Then he hung up.

SELF DETERMINATION = SELF MOTIVATION
Bernard Malamund says ‘there comes a time in a man’s life when to get where he has to go—if, there are no doors or windows—he walks through a wall’. These are small words but expressed in a great motivating sense. The main motivation behind this is to be always determined in your work as the best way out is always through Determination. To illustrate what is mentioned above here is a small story which I am sure will motivate you and your thoughts to be always determined.
This is a story about a little boy Robert who proved that determination is the key to open the lock of difficulties. His little country schoolhouse was heated by an old fashioned, pot-bellied coal-stove. It was his responsibility to come early to school each day so that he could use kerosene to start a fire before his classmates and teachers arrived. He did it willingly because he loved his teachers very much and thus his enamour for them made him concerned towards them. He would himself come early and do his duty, in the, freezing cold so that his teachers would be comfortable. He was highly respected and loved by everyone, including his teachers. But as it is said, ’Where happiness comes, sorrow lies beside it’. As fortune had it, one day, someone mistakenly filled the kerosene container with gasoline, and disaster struck next. The class and the teachers arrived, alarmed to see the schoolhouse on fire. Even worse, they were terrified on hearing that Robert was inside. They rushed in and somehow managed to bring the semi-conscious, half-dead boy out of the flaming building. He had major burns on many parts of the body and was immediately taken to the hospital.
‘What has happened to my son?’ ‘How is he?’ ‘Why are you not replying anything?’ were the cries of the boy’s mother. She was moaning in agony as if the pain suffered by the child was her own. Such is the love of a mother, selfless devotion towards her child. All his teachers were there and could understand her feelings. After all they were parents themselves. They were trying to console her but it seemed as if nothing could stop her from crying that day. Finally the doctor came out. ‘How is my son, sir?’ she inquired her voice sinking slowly and her eyes growing heavier every chronon. He took her to the corner of the room as he did not want the boy to hear what he was about to tell. But, they were unaware of the fact that the boy was listening to them. From the bed, the dreadfully burned semi-conscious child heard the doctor say ’I am sorry to tell this but I think that your son will die. And it will be better for him as his body has been badly devastated by the fire. It will be better for him to die peacefully than to die tormentingly…’ But the boy didn’t want to die. He had made up his mind that he would survive. And somehow, amazingly, to the amazement of the doctor, the boy, Robert survived.
Yet when the mortal danger had passed, the doctor decided to tell the truth to his mother. He heard them speak in the shadows of his curtain. The doctor told the boy’s mother that since the fire had destroyed or rather eaten up the flesh in the lower part of his body to such a great extent that that he would now have to spend his life as a cripple with no use of the lower limbs. Still, his mother refused to amputate. He was given complete bed rest. A great lover of books, his mother bought him many to read. As he was reading the books, he came across an extremely inspirational and motivating story titled ‘Our most loyal companion, our soul’.
“There was once a rich merchant who had three sons. He loved all of them a lot. He always gave his youngest son the best. Whatever the son desired, the father gave it to him without any second thought. He always boasted about his elder son, and considered him the most capable son he had. However he always feared that his son might leave him. Although, the eldest son loved his father deeply and was extremely faithful towards him, yet the father never noticed it. Many years later, when the father was on his deathbed, he called all his sons. ‘I have always loved you and given you whatever you heart craved for. ‘ ‘Will you accompany me on my journey to heaven’, said the father to his youngest son. ’No way father. How could you even think of it.’ he said and walked off without a second look. The answer cut through like a sharp knife in the man’s heart. The merchant asked his elder son, ’I have loved all my life’ ‘ Will you accompany me to heaven’. ‘Are you out of your mind, dad.’ ‘I am so happy here, why should I accompany you?’ . The answer came like a bolt of thunder and the merchant was devastated. Then a voice called out ‘I will always be with you father and will accompany you wherever you go’. The father looked up and saw it was his eldest son. He felt grieved and said to himself,’ I should have taken good care of you’ and breathed his last. To tell the truth, the three sons symbolize the three phases of our lives. The youngest son is our body. No matter how much we waste our time in adorning it, it will leave us when we die. The elder son is our possessions, status and wealth. When we die, they all go away. The eldest son is our soul, often neglected in pursuit of material, wealth and sensual pleasure. But it is the only thing that is always with us.
On reading this story, Robert was greatly moved. This story made him believe that he could do anything that he wished. He heard a cry from within ringing his minds, ‘You can do it Robert. Don’t be weak at heart. Believe in yourself and in whatever you do’. Robert was greatly moved. He now felt an urge in him to do something coz he knew that someone was with him. Now he was completely self-determined that he would not spend his life as a cripple. He will not be taunted by the world. He will walk, he will run, he will spend his life as every other human being spends. But unfortunately from the waist-down, Robert had no motor ability. His thin, scarred legs just dangled there, all but lifeless. Ultimately, after many days of rest, he was discharged.
His parents were very happy to have him back at home, safe and sound. Daily his father and mother would massage his legs. They even hired a therapist for they believed that their son would soon recover from this misery. Robert’s affectionate classmates and teachers would daily come to visit him. Ultimately after several days of turmoil, patience and belief Robert started showing some signs of improvement. Gradually, he was able to stand, but, still he was unable to walk. When Robert wasn’t in bed, he was confined to a wheelchair. His mother used to take him to the park daily to get some fresh air. His mother also took him to his school, sometimes, to meet his fellow classmates and his teachers. Gradually, he began attending school as well. Things were going on smoothly for Robert until that fateful day which changed his life. As a regular routine, his mother had taken him to the park. He suddenly felt a strong urge to walk. In this attempt, he threw himself from the wheelchair and dragged himself along the fence. Then he stood up on his feet, and made his first attempt to walk. In the attempt, he fell down but, he did not lose hope. He was determined to walk and the determination could be read in his eyes itself. He had resolved that he would anyhow develop life in those legs. Ultimately through his iron-persistence and resolute determination, he did develop the courage, the ability, to walk. Though, in the beginning, he would walk haltingly, but later on with the help and support of his parents, he was finally able to walk. Miracles continued to govern him and miraculously he was able to run. His mother shed the first tears of happiness after the dreadful incident that had happened with him ‘That’ day.
Now nothing could stop Robert from running. He began to run everywhere, to the school, to the park and wherever he went. Nobody saw him walking, they always found him running and why wouldn’t he? After eight months of turmoil, pain and labour he was seeing this day, the day that he always longed for. Everyone was happy for him his parents, his teachers, his friends, especially his parents. They had always seen Robert cheerful and gay and longed for his smile to come back to his mouth. They could see it today and truly felt blessed. What more does one’s parents need than to see their child standing on his feet, once again. Though Robert was unable to run at a great speed, yet it did not concern him much. He just wanted to walk and he had succeeded in his desire by his will-power, his determination…
Robert was now on his road to manhood. Many of us would want to get a good job but Robert thought differently. He wanted to do something for those suffering, what he has already witnessed and has overcome. Thus Robert went to many countries motivating those who were suffering what he has suffered. His main aim was to tell the crippled that they are of great worth to us. They can do a lot to serve the society, the nation and the entire world, at large. Wherever he went, he won the hearts of millions. He received many national and international
Awards for his social works. More than that, he received world acclaim and became a motivator for millions who were touched by his works. After his death, the hospital in which he was given treatment paid homage to this great soul by erecting his statue in the hospital. The main purpose behind this was to motivate the people by just telling them they can change their fate by just being determined enough to do so.
This is a small story but it has a very deep and ever-lasting meaning. We have clearly seen that self-determination is equal to self-motivation. We can motivated by anyone, ourselves or even by others only if we are determined to be motivated. You can never be motivated if you are not determined to follow that motivation. As Barbara Castle quotes “I will fight for what I believe in until I drop dead. And that’s what keeps me alive”. The spirit of standing for what you have determined to do makes it even more rigid. We must always stand for what is right and always support righteousness. There is always a difference between what you can do and what you will do. And what you will do is your ‘SELF-DETERMINATION’. This is what sums up the whole thing and gives us the moral of the story.
Robert Langdon A thriller
The car accelerated to a very high speed. Robert gripped the musket tightly and yelled at the top of his voice "Look out!" Captain Mortan brought the car to a halt. It was a close call. Robert was flung out of his seat and he landed on his left arm which tore apart badly. He screamed in agony. The searing pain gripped him. His head started throbbing violently. Blood oozed from his hands. He fell senseless onto the hard ground.
Robert woke up with a start. Probably he had been dreaming. His cellphone was vibrating beside him.
It was the alarm. "Aaargh!" Robert complained. He looked around and saw that he was in his tent. A soldier's tent. He realized that he had been fighting against the insurgents the last night. They had set up an ambush for the soldiers in the middle of the forest. He slowly recollected how they had been outnumbered by the great number of insurgents and had decided to flee the spot. They were being chased by the insurgents while Robert was firing at them to slow them down. Then abruptly his chain of thoughts came to a halt and he forgot what had happened next.
Out of the blue, a searing pain gripped him. He fell down holding his left arm.
His left arm!
He felt his head pounding. It was hurting him very much. Robert groaned.
But if there was an actual accident, then why was his cellphone vibrating? It was certainly not the alarm. Then what was it?
*
"He was the hero of the day" said Collet. "Whom are you talking about? Tim was the hero of the day" said Bezu. "Nay, it was Captain Mortan. He killed forty insurgents single-handedly! He was the last one to occupy a car to flee from the battle. He saved Robert Langdon after the accident. The way he drove was brilliant." replied Collet. "But Tim was a martyr. Moreover, Mortan could have saved Tim by a little effort. I appreciate Mortan's way of fighting but I commiserrate with Tim. Poor soul, he had been a daring fighter" Bezu said.
Captain Mortan entered the room. "Good evening boys. Sorry to say that Robert is now incapable to fight. He has received a bad wound." "Damn it! I think we are nearing our end," Collet said shocked. "Now, don't become a pessimist. Have confidence in yourself; we will win," Mortan said and strode out of the room towards Langdon's tent.
*
It was a phone call from an unknown number. Langdon picked it up. "This is Robert Langdon," Robert struggled to speak without giving notice of the strain in his voice. "Hello, Robert, listen to me without interfering. Follow what I say you to do. Don't do anything foolish.Don't tell anyone about this call. Your life is in great danger."
*
Captain Mortan walked towards Langdon's tent. He had many things in his mind which he wanted to tell to Langdon. The last night had been a terrible one. He had led his troop into the ambush. They had suffered a heavy loss. Captain Mortan was shrouded with despair.
*
"Who are you?" Langdon asked. "I am speaking from the British intellgence and there is a very urgent message for you," the voice said.
A message from the Intelligence on a private mobile phone? Something was terribly wrong.
*
Captain Mortan was two hundred yards away from the tent when somebody called out his name. It was Bezu. He came up to him and said "There was a call from the defence department." "What was the message?" Captain Mortan eyed him.
"It's bad news. The insurgents are moving forward at a very fast rate and they will soon overtake us." Bezu said.
"How much time do we have?" he asked.
"Less than an hour."
*
"What I am going to tell you will be shocking for you. But I am telling you this because you are the only one who can save your troop from a disaster. There has been an infiltration," Robert was startled, "A what?"
"An infiltration," the man repeated. Robert asked "Who is the man?"
After a deepening silence, the man spoke. When Robert heard the name, he was awestruck.
"Captain Mortan."
*
Get the troops ready? We are leaving? Bezu thought that Mortan was out of his mind. Robert Langdon was in no way fit to travel. They couldn't leave him behind. Help would arrive only after two days. That was too long. They had only an hour. Bezu thought that the most probable step at this stage would be to get ready to fight the battle. He had even planned an ambush. But it all drained away when Mortan asked him to get the troops ready and get him his gun so that they could start off immediately.
Bezu took the musket and ran to Mortan thinking of suggesting him the plan of an ambush before getting the troops ready.
Captain Mortan was on the phone. "Whose call was it?" Bezu asked when Mortan hung up. "My wife's." Bezu sensed that Mortan was lying.
"What do you say of an ambush?" Bezu asked as he handed him the gun.
"Get the troops ready. My command is that we are going. That's a command!" Captain Mortan said.
*
"What are you saying?"
"Captain Mortan joined the troop recently and reached the highest rank in a matter of a few months. Only a trained person can do that. His early life says that he has received no training under the British government. Then where did he get trained? Among the insurgents. The attack was a pre-planned one and Mortan knew about it. Yet, Mortan took his troop through that route. It only reveals that he is infiltrated. Another instance, he ran away from the battle spot in the last car and yet he got far ahead of the attackers. It reveals that the attackers were made to travel slowly so that Mortan could get away. He performed an incredulous spectacle by killing forty insurgents single-handedly. It is not so big a feat if your opponents are actually favoring you. Tim was put into useless danger. Such an audacious fighter got killed due to Captain Mortan. The last example is a true one which you have gone through. He tried to take your life and he almost succeeded."
Langdon's mind raced. "What do you want me to do?"
"Well, I advise you to call Mortan to your room and shoot him."
*
Mortan moved briskly towards Langdon's tent. He did not want everybody to know that Langdon was dying. That was why he had lied to Bezu about the call. Langdon had called him and said "Mortan, I am feeling that my end is coming. Come quick! I have urgent news from the intelligence. But tell no one about it."
"What is it? Wait! I am coming. Here comes Bezu. Hold on!" Then he had hung up.
When he reached Langdon's tent, he saw that Langdon was lying wide awake.
He stepped in. "Are you okay?" "I am glad that you have come. Listen... The insurgents are coming in ten minutes! They have tracked us. They are moving at a very fast pace. Get ready quickly! Fight to your deathbeds!"
*
Bezu felt that Mortan was doing the wrong thing. He suspected Mortan. He acted as if he was walking away but as soon as Mortan walked briskly towards Langdon's tent, Bezu began following him. But Mortan was very fast. Bezu had not even reached the tent when Mortan stepped inside. Bezu stopped short and reconsidered his move. He was utterly terrified.
It was the first time that Bezu had witnessed Mortan speaking a blatant lie. He would soon find out.
*
Suddenly, Robert reached out for his musket and shot twice.
Mortan staggered and fell back, clutching his chest. "No... Langdon... it can't be!" he said breathless.
His body turned rigid and he died in an instant.
The aim was true.
*
Bezu jumped. He was sure he heard a gunshot. Had Mortan killed Langdon to get rid of a burden? Bezu hesitated in approaching the tent for he had begun fearing Mortan.
At last, he took out his gun and stepped forward.
*
Langdon jumped from his bed and struggled to move the dead body aside. He froze when somebody yelled "Stop!" It was Bezu.
"It was Mortan who came towards me with a dagger! Thank God that I kept a musket nearby," Langdon said.
"What proof do you have?"
"Can't you see? It is all vivid. Mortan led us into the ambush, killed Tim, tried an assault on me and then seeing that I had not died, he tried once more, though unsuccessfully."
"So you killed him?"
"I had no other choice. I have been informed that an attack is probable within the next ten minutes! We have to get ready for it! We don't have time!"
"I will take care of you later," said Bezu.
*
The caller smiled. The attack had now become a lot easier. With the dangrous rival gone, they could easily overthrow them. Robert Langdon was really a fool.
British intelligence? What a tactic!
The radio transmitter began blinking. "Langdon has been killed. He was very ferocious. It cost us twenty men. He was acting like a wounded tiger," The man smiled. It doesn't matter how many lives are lost. The only thing that matters is that Langdon is dead and we are nearing a revolution.
"Well done. Get the boys back. The country will now weep and we will rejoice," he said contemptuously. "But there is more."
The caller's eyes narrowed. What more can there be?
"I wanted to ask how many soldiers were there when you counted. I thought that you had said thirty-five," the voice said. "Yes, there were thrity-five counting Mortan," said the caller. "But we have found only thirty-three corpses. Counting Mortan, it becomes thirty-four. This means that..."
Our hideout has been revealed.
The radio fell from his hand.
The caller stared, eyes wide open. "Run for your lives."
*
Ten days later, Bezu led the army into the forest. He smiled with a scorn.
Vengeance is sweet.
Robert woke up with a start. Probably he had been dreaming. His cellphone was vibrating beside him.

Ten days later, Bezu led the army into the forest. He smiled with a scorn.
Vengeance is sweet.
My Lives Greatest Contribution
I was just pale and felt embaressed,
Seeing my national flag falling
A gun with 4 bullets just was useless
Because my hands seemed to be pair less
I thought “Why not let’s try?”
And the answer flowed “no need to try?”
I saw myself red in color
But somewhere I had alive the tricolor
I got the order “pull that flag down”
And my hands trembling pulled my gun down
I aimed it high into the sky
And shot the officer who made my INDIA cry.
A sense of relief ran down me
And the dead British I could clearly see
3 bullets penetrated through me
And I died painlessly
Because I had proved myself a true INDIAN to be.

A friend
“Wake up shyam”, shouted Manoj from outside. I was startled at first and then remembered that today was Sunday and we planned for a movie. I came to my balcony and asked him the time and he replied “dear sir you are just 1 hr late from your usual time.” I felt a disgusting feeling under me and replied coolly “is it so.” I called him up and made him comfortable at my room and rushed to my bathroom. After exact 30 minutes I heard a call from outside that I was now 1.30 mins. late. I stopped the shower and cleaned myself thoroughly, then adjusted my hair and wore my blue denim and a white ‘text t’ which said “I am never too late.” As I came out Manoj just almost boxed me. We then rushed to our bike and went out and a guilty smile on our face. We stopped our bike at a panwallahs shop and asked him to pack 3 bottles of cold-drink and 7-8 packets of chips. Next I took out my mobile and called to Sweety and Manoj to Mansi. They reached the shop by 5 mins with a bag hanging loosely at their back. Both of them looked good and the we were off. We were going to the nearby city for movie, lunch and a fast drive over the main highway through the forests and back to our city by 6. We had just planned everything the last day. We stopped our bikes at a petrol pump nearby and got our tanks full. I gave out my credit card and by a minute or two they returned it to me saying “hey give the correct card, this ones is a blocked one” and then to my horror I remembered that I picked up the wrong one at home. I felt shame but as always there’s a silver lining in the clouds I had enough cash in my wallet. We then rushed to the next city at speed of 80 – 120. We both were good riders and our both were good setters. We enjoyed our way and by 12 we reached the main gate of “inox” of that city. Manoj went inside and got the tickets of the movie of 3pm. We went for lunch at the nearby restaurant and ate to our full. We ordered everything that we could and celebrated, enjoyed the day. We couldn’t get up from our seat and all of ours stomach popped out. We however went to our bikes and rushed to “inox”. We reached there 5 mins. Before show and got our self seated with popcorn and cold drink each and for god sake we were not in a mood to eat anything but for formality we took it. The movie started and all went in a fix. Mansi’s cold-drink fell down and my too. Something vibrated and then we realised that it was a slight earthquakes reaction. We just had a laugh and sat back for our movie once again. It was a love story of a politician and a normal girl turned into a politician. It was first time I ever saw a movie in which a girl loved a boy but the boy didn’t. It was amazing. We liked it and it was 6 by that time. We had just 1 hour to reach home. We rushed out of the theatre and jumped on our bikes. We accelerated and off to the highway. We screamed and enjoyed a lot. On the way before the forest we had tea and bhajia. I thought to skip the plan of the forest and the highway once more but nothing works in a group of 4 with ratio 1:3. We entered the forest and crossed about 1 kilometre and found something unusual. There were two to three people standing on each side at distances. I felt a bit scared and actually we all four but my terror turned horrifying when I saw at a distant. There were lamps of fire and when I turned back we were surrounded by almost 100 people. I felt almost unconscious when I remembered last days headline “a man murdered by tribal’s in the forest area.” As I was hoping that it would not be this forest i saw a skeleton or to say more properly a heap of dead bodies at a distance of where we were standing. 2 men came to us and tied our hands. We were pushed to their camp were there were posts made with choppers. We had lost our thinking sense and they tied us to the post. They tossed the names that who would be killed first. The first one was to be my dearest friend Manoj. They untied his hands. He hugged us and then Mansi exclaimed “if he has to be killed then you should kill me first.” The boss told they don’t kill girls but she argued. I went and brought her back. She couldn’t see how Manoj was stripped of and then with just one choke the blade went through his body. We three gave out a scream as it was natural. Mansi went and sat beside Manoj’s body she was weeping continuously and even we two couldn’t stop our tears. It was my turn next and I don’t know what happened to me, a feeling of confidence came to me. I went all by myself and stood on the stand. All my good times I spend with my family, friend, and Sweety came to my mind as a slide show was being presentated to me. I couldn’t stop thinking what they would do to the girls after my death, will they leave her or they will also meet disastrous ends. As I was thinking this all I heard the police siren coming nearer and nearer. They got panicked and in this we three got a chance to escape from there. As we were running I realised someone following us. As I turned around I say one of the tribal coming nearer with a bow and arrow. I thought our end has come but to my astonishment he said” here sir take your bike keys, run from here as fast as you can, I’m leaving you because in you I see my son and please never come to this place again.” I took the key thanked that man, gave him a 500 rupee note and ran to my bike. There I saw the police van. They at once put us into their van and there we got water to drink. I heard several gunshots and then it was over. The police inspector came to us and told the boss has run away. I jumped out of the van and took Mansi with me. I took Mansi down the police van. There the inspector was standing. I told him where the boss was as I had seen him running. They ran to that place and brought the boss to us on special request on mines. There they shooted him and with a long hiccup he lay motionless. We all burst into tears not for that cruel man who in later died but for our dearest friend Manoj. I couldn’t thank him for killing such an unruly person but my friend’s deaths memories throughout the way saddened me. We reached our city by 1.30 the next morning. All my family members were very happy to see me. Manoj’s family when got the news of her son’s death they were grieved struck. One day in a conversation i asked my father how the police reached there. Then my father explained “the police actually went there for investigation of the murder but then they heard laughing voices of the tribal so the first covered the whole forest by force and then they attacked.” I was amazed but I only thought that if they would attack before 10 minutes my most lovely friend would be alive whose memory i can never forget throughout my life. After two or three months I had a dream in which Manoj came and he told me that Mansi was alone and he hoped that I would take care of her. The very next day instead of my calling her call came to me. I was surprised to see her call. She said “come as fast as you can to Me.” And the phone went dead. I do not know what kind of shiver I got but I rushed to my bike and at full speed ran to her house. I climbed up the stairs and opened the door wide open just to see no one there to talk to me.
‘IT’
Just as slowly as a raindrop falls,
‘IT’ came to me with open arms
I knew ‘IT’ had heard my calls
For ‘IT’ had come in steady trots.
I knew the words ‘eternal love’
But still I hesitated to speak;
‘IT’ was dressed as a dove,
With a flower in its beak.
‘IT’ halted by me with her timid smile,
A beauty that I had never seen
The words had gathered in a pile,
Whose weight stooped me dpwn.
I emptied my heart of the last word,
‘IT’ knew; ‘IT’ had found ‘eternal love’
All the words were clearly heard,
And ‘IT’ hugged me and moved closer.
But then I showed reluctance for ‘IT’
Because I had recognised-
I knew Death was ‘IT’,
And Death had found ‘eternal love’ with me.

Howzz that?!...
A bowler was bowling with all his might,
Napo, the batsman had his eyes shut tight.
The ball took off like a flight.
Though Napo knew only one shot.
He was thinking which would be right,
He was bowled out!
Mukund, the bowler appealed very loud;
But Navin, the umpire’s mind was out,
He was thinking why Mukund had to shout,
Without seeing the wickets, he said “Not out”
Angry Mukund wanted to fight,
And to give ‘Choclame’ with all his might.
But Navin still thought that his decision was right.

Elysium
With a silent and a beautiful environ on the first step,
And a soul-stirring scene of great jubilance,
I entered through the gates as the evil dep;
And saw a panorama; it induced holiness.
That is the chroncle of my canonized entrance.
As I trod the rest of my steps, angels received me;
And the nightingale with its mellifluous song,
Filled my heart with the melody of Elysium.
Beholding the beauty of the landscape, I ceased
To see the Divine messenger ready to hail me.
I halted for a jiffy and blasted into the elegance,
Seeing the stars beckoning me- “stay back”,
I reflected in the first instance;
But decided to do what I was willing,
I stayed.
The angel took me into her arms,
I breathed into the Valhalla fragrance;
She showed me the power of her charms
And I breathed my last.
As my psyche was leaving me;
She left a message unconveyed,
Upon which- later on- I pondered
It was that the spirit had plied my skin;
To drive away Lucifer.
And a soul-stirring scene of great jubilance,

A walk in the graveyard
The eastern winds had grown stronger than usual by the time I came to my senses. I could see a big scratch on my left foot but I felt no pain. A loud groan escaped my mouth as I stood up. The winds were becoming stronger and soon a gale would arise. I walked slowly to find a shelter.
I could not remember what had knocked me down and when I tried to recollect my past I found that I could remember nothing- nothing at all, not even my parents. I had lost all my memories; I was gong mad.
My foot struck at a stone that protruded out from the landscape and that brought me back to my present. It was only then, after such a long time that I realized that I was in a graveyard. There were many filthy slabs that were into the ground and I noticed that I had struck at one of those slabs.
I walked hurriedly out of the place feeling agitated at the thought that a corpse was just under my foot. As I was walking, I could make out the outline of a person who was crouching in the dense darkness. At first I hesitated to approach the person but then a surge to have company drove me to the man. I saw that he was not looking at me and he seemed all right except that his attire was torn at a few places. I halted at my place and made a rustling noise by my feet.
The man turned his head.
“Who are you?”
I could not remember my name. I had been swept clean of all my memories.
“Thomson” I lied.
“What do you want?” he asked me.
“Uh- I- I want a companion” I said without thinking.
“I can’t accompany you. I am dead. See, here lays my dead body” he said. I strained my neck to see and then closed my eyes tightly and sped away from there. The man’s stomach had been cut open and there was no heart inside it!
I ran till my knees began shivering and that moment I fell down. My body was full of scratches, my cheeks were red and my hands and my fingers were unusually long. My legs were short but my foot was wide and I was bald.
I walked slowly as my knees were quaking. I was walking towards shelter; or so I thought. The trees were waving to and fro due to the gale and the voice of the winds and the rustle of the leaves were clearly audible. The muddy ground was covered by leaves and they made a kind of a carpet on the floor. I continued towards my destination. The graveyard was very big and I could not even see where it ended. A supernatural thing suddenly began pulling me towards it and I could not help but run at a very fast pace towards the source.
When I saw the banyan tree about which people said was haunted, I applied all my effort to stop myself. I was just slowing down when I realized that I had got back my memories. I had recollected the rumour which my sister had conveyed to me- Ah! My sister, I remembered her. Tears rolled down my eyes as I recollected my parents and all those who cared for me. I could remember the farmhouse where I had grown up and also my old grandpa who was very loving.
These things distracted me and I found that I was standing right in front of the banyan tree. My past memories flashed in my mind and I could now remember how I had indulged in a drunken gamble.
I looked down at the foot of the banyan tree and I saw a corpse that had unusally long hands and fingers, red cheeks, short legs and a wide foot. I gasped when I saw that his body was full of scratches.
The flashing memories indicated to me that the drunken opponent had deceived me and when I had rebelled; he had scratched me all over with his dagger. It told me what my last sight was- the hands of the criminal choking me. I was dead!
